OMCA’s Ongoing "Question Bridge: Black Males" Exhibit

A registered investment advisor serving roughly 250 families, The Putney Financial Group in San Rafael provides financial planning and wealth management services to a wide range of clients. Recognizing the importance of cultural institutions, The Putney Financial Group has also sponsored museum exhibitions at the Oakland Museum of California (OMCA) in the past.

Dedicated to helping Californians create a more vibrant future, the OMCA brings together history, art, and natural sciences. Featuring a collection of more than 1.9 million items, the museum hosts temporary and ongoing exhibits, such as Question Bridge: Black Males.

Named a top exhibition in the Bay Area by the San Francisco Chronicle, Question Bridge: Black Males is housed in the OMCA’s Gallery of California Art. It’s an immersive experience that grants viewers the opportunity to watch face-to-face conversations between more than 160 black men around the country. These men answer one another’s question with vulnerability and honesty, thus granting viewers an in-depth look into their lives. They also share beliefs, values, and stories of their experiences.

Question Bridge: Black Males creates a portrait of the future, past, and present of black men in the United States. The video installation was created by Hank Willis Thomas and Christ Johnson, in collaboration with Kamal Sinclair and Bayeté Ross Smith.
