Founded in 1996 by Ray Lent, The Putney Financial Group is an investment advisory firm in San Rafael, California. Committed to building lasting relationships with clients, The Putney Financial Group supports the arts and history through organizations such as the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco.

Home to an eclectic range of Asian Art, the Asian Art Museum is running an exhibition through March 2020 called “Lost at Sea: Art Recovered from Shipwrecks.” The artifacts on display include 12th-century stone reliefs from Central Vietnam that lay at the bottom of the Arabian Sea for more than 100 years and ceramic dishes and jars that lay for more than 500 years in the hold of a sunken ship near Vietnam.

The pieces were excavated from the ocean floor by marine archaeologists in the 1990s then sold at auction and eventually donated to the museum. Not only beautiful to look at, but the recovered artifacts also offer interesting information about trade customs and colonial enterprises of the time.
